Abstract: This presentation includes an introductory discussion of the unification of fundamental forces, properties of the elementary particles, Quantum Electrodynamics, the transition from Quantum Electrodynamics and Weak Interactions to Electroweak Physics, Radiative Corrections in the Standard Model of Particle Physics, and some critical unsolved : Alberto Sirlin.

    The radiative corrections of relative order Z/sup 2/ alpha /sup 3/ (absolute order Z/sup 4/ alpha /sup 2/ ry), corresponding to the Larob shift terms arising from the nuclear Coulomb potential, and some of the Z alpha /sup 3/ corrections, arising from radiative interactions between the electrons, are calculated for the ground-state energy of the helium atom. In summary, the Workshop on Space Radiation Hazards and the Vision for Space Exploration revealed the numerous ways in which solar and space physics research can contribute to all phases and aspects of the VSE.
